On the morning of Wednesday, May 14, Springfield High School seniors participated in a cherished tradition—the annual Senior Walk—marking the final days of their journey through Springfield Local Schools.
The event began at the Springfield High School fieldhouse, where students gathered by elementary school affiliation—Dorr Elementary, Crissey Elementary and Holloway Elementary. Alumni of what is now Holland Intermediate (formerly Holland Elementary) were also grouped together to reflect on their unique path through the district.
With pride and nostalgia, the Class of 2025 exited the fieldhouse doors and made their way through the high school campus, welcomed and celebrated by students and staff lining the halls. Cheers, applause and heartfelt congratulations created a moving send-off as seniors revisited the familiar spaces that have shaped their educational journey. The walk continued through the campus track area and into Springfield Middle School, followed by a final pass through Holland Intermediate. The symbolic route offered seniors the chance to walk the same halls they once did as children—a full-circle moment of reflection, joy and accomplishment.
Afterward, students boarded buses—one for each elementary school—for a final nostalgic visit to their original school buildings. There, photos were taken and memories revisited as seniors walked the halls where it all began.
This is always one of the most heartwarming traditions we hold at Springfield. It gives our students a chance to look back at where they started, feel the community’s support, and look ahead to the bright futures they are stepping into.
On Thursday, May 15, seniors enjoyed a celebratory senior picnic, hosted by the Springfield Athletic Boosters and dedicated volunteers. The event included food, games and fun—along with video interviews capturing students’ reflections on their favorite staff members. The interviews will be featured in a year-end tribute video honoring district staff for their lasting impact.
The official graduation ceremony for Springfield High School’s Class of 2025 took place on Saturday, May 17, at 9 a.m. at the Stranahan Theater.
