Springfield Schools Alumni

The Springfield-Holland Alumni Association periodically shines a spotlight on Blue Devils graduates, sharing details on how the district’s programs and activities allowed students to excel in their future endeavors.

Alumni association leaders recently caught up with three graduates, siblings Knox, Reid and Sullivan Sanders, who continue to pursue some lofty career and life goals.

The Sanders siblings came to Springfield in 1996 after their parents, Mark and Amy, relocated the family from Rochester Hills, Michigan, due to his job promotion.

From day one, Mrs. Sanders immersed herself in the district. She assisted with classroom activities, parent/booster organizations, and became a member of the Springfield Schools Foundation Board.

Through her the alumni association learned about the lives of these three graduates.

All excelled at Springfield and each was honored with the Youth Jefferson Award for their leadership, character and commitment to stepping off the sidelines to impact many of the issues that challenge the region.

Throughout their high school careers, the trio were committed to helping others, and were leaders in the school’s Students In Action/Devils as One initiative.

Knox went on to earn a BSN, RN degree from Case Western Reserve University. He has worked as a heart/pulmonary ICU nurse at Cleveland Clinic where he was a member of the organ procurement fly out team for heart/lung transplants.

He recently received his masters in nursing with a concentration in anesthesia from Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He will return to the area in the near future to join the staff at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

Reid earned his BSN, RN degree from the University of Toledo and works as an ICU/trauma nurse at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. At Beaumont, he was awarded Rookie of the Year in 2021.

He was accepted at both Johns Hopkins and Cleveland Clinic to complete his doctor of nursing practice with a concentration in anesthesia. Reid has chosen Cleveland.

“Sulli” was a four-year member of the University of Findlay Oilers’ tennis team and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Honors team.

She earned her bachelor of science degree in marketing, business and human resource administration. She is currently completing an internship in Tenneco’s DRIV program, which will prepare her for further success in her field.

The Sanders family experiences with the district represent just one of the success stories involving Springfield graduates.

The district has and will continue to provide the educational foundation and motivation to help each student become their best.
