The Toledo Humane Society will hold a Microchip Clinic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, December 5, at its Maumee shelter location, 827 Illinois Avenue. Area pet owners can bring their cats and dogs to be microchipped for $25, no appointments necessary. Included in the fee is a registration with the service 24PetWatch.
A microchip is a permanent form of identification that is placed under the animals skin and can never be lost. It has a unique code that can be scanned by any veterinary office or animal shelter so that pets can be identified and returned home.
According to a study conducted by the American Veterinary Medical Association, dogs with microchips are two and half times more likely and cats are twenty times more likely to be found and returned to their families.
Animals adopted from THS will be microchipped.Anyone who cannot attend can call 419-8910705, extension 325, to schedule an appointment or email info@toledohumane.org for more information.
