Encyclopedias Available from Home

Did you know that our online encyclopedias could be accessed from home? No more last minute rush to the library to finish homework. Just visit our website at www.toledolibrary.org/ research/alphabetical to gain access to Funk and Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, the Ohio History Central Encyclopedia, and World Book Encyclopedia. All the information you need right at your fingertips.

Babytime

Babytime for children 6 to 24 months, with an adult, will be held beginning on Mondays, September 26 through November 14, at 10 a.m. Have fun with stories, rhymes and music while discovering ways to develop early literacy skills in your young child. Join us for a book program designed just for the littlest learners. Register and include the name and age of each child in the “notes” area.

Toddler Storytime

Have fun at this interactive storytime for children 23 years old and their favorite grown-up on Wednesdays, September 28-November 16 at 9:30 a.m. Talk, sing, read, write and play together as we share books, songs, rhymes, and movement. Register and write the name and age of each child in the “notes” area.

Preschool Storytime

Have fun at this special Preschool Storytime program designed for children ages 25 with their favorite adult, Wednesdays, September 28November 16, at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays, September 29-November 17, at 10:30 a.m. Storytime helps prepare your child for kindergarten. Talking, singing, reading, writing and playing are the five essential early literacy practices. After storytime, stay and play with new friends. Educational toys and activities will be provided. Register and write the name and age of each child in the “notes” area.

Family Storytime

Family Storytime begins September 27-November 15 on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. Children ages 2-5, along with their favorite grown-ups, are invited to talk, sing, read, write, and play as we share stories, rhymes, music, and movement. Register and write the name and age of each child in the “notes” area.

Teen iPad Café

Want to learn something new? Here’s your chance. On Thursday, September 15, from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m., hang out with friends, enjoy snacks, eMedia, and games. Get help with homework, read an online book, discuss the latest movies–the possibilities are endless. We provide the iPads, you provide the fun.

Stop, Drop and Read

Wishing you had 30 minutes to just read? Join us on Tuesday, September 20, at 6 p.m., to Stop, Drop and Read. Bring your family and friends, a blanket or chairs, a good book, snacks, and join other readers at your library. Take a photo of you and your group in your favorite reading spot or pose, and post it on TLCPL’s Facebook page to be part of a TLCPL Photo Mosaic. Swag is available to the first 10 library pic posters. Help us “cover” the library with readers.

Book Discussion

Join us on Thursday, September 22, at 1 p.m., for a lively and enlightening discussion of the book “Bettyville,” by George Hodgman. Copies of the book are now available at the Holland Branch Library. New members are always welcome.

GED and Adult Basic Literacy Education Classes
