A solution to the ingress and egress at Mr. G’s for a future roundabout at the intersection of Hill Avenue and McCord Road has been devised.
At the November 7 meeting, Springfield Township Administrator Mike Hampton presented a drawing of the intersection and how it will be reconfigured when the roundabout is constructed in 2024 or 2025.
The issue came to light in the spring when the popular ice cream shop opened, causing traffic to stack up on Hill Avenue. With plans for a roundabout in the future, Mr. Hampton said it was imperative that all parties involved work on a resolution.
On the new plan, above, there will be a dedicated stacking lane and right turn in and right turn out lanes. To make a left turn, patrons will need to exit right into the roundabout and navigate it to eastbound Hill, Mr. Hampton explained.
The administrator believes the reconfiguration will resolve the traffic problems. “It took a lot of meetings, but I think it is going to work out just fine,” he added.
