Springfield Township’s trustees are seeking a change to the text amendment in the zoning resolution.
At the April 2 meeting, the trustees authorized Jacob Barnes, planning director, to initiate the amendment process with regard to joint economic development districts.
Trustee Andy Glenn favors the proposed amendment, noting “it is absolutely beneficial to the township and township finances.”
He pointed out the amendment would allow the township to continue to expand the JEDD area.
The trustees also reviewed the zoning report for March. The department issued 33 permits and collected $2,540.
“It got quite a bit busier,” Mr. Barnes said, adding there were five new dwelling permits and a new commercial business.
“Activity is picking up across the township,” he noted.
Permits were issued for fencing/deck and signs, seven each; followed by additions, three; sheds and new occupants, two apiece, and one each for remodel, zoning change and pool.
On March 28, the site plan was approved and permit issued for a new Raising Cane’s restaurant at 6550 Airport Highway, at the former Boston Market location.
Mr Barnes said the Lucas County Plan Commission met March 27 and approved a preliminary drawing for Kotts Crossing near the Dorr Street interchange.
Mr. Barnes concluded his report informing the trustees of two upcoming public hearings for zoning change requests from AR-2 large lot rural residential to M-1 limited industrial, 2735 South Eber Road, and RA-4 rural residential to C-2 general commercial, 6518, 6552 and 6604 Nebraska Avenue.
The next trustees meeting will be at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the meeting room of the township hall, 7617 Angola Road, and is open to the public.
