On February 24 we had the privilege of hosting Amanda Fay, WTOL11 News anchor, along with WTOL11 reporters for a special segment highlighting Leaders in Action. Representing Springfield Local Schools were Springfield High School senior Kaveya Wertz and Holland Intermediate’s Kristen Lynn Smith.
Kaveya shared her inspiring journey through high school and her passion for environmental sustainability. As president of the Clean Green Club and an active leader in student government and multiple organizations, she has been dedicated to making a difference. She spoke about her efforts to research solar panels and their potential to conserve energy on our campus, demonstrating her commitment to creating cleaner communities.
Meanwhile, Kristen Lynn represented Holland Intermediate by traveling to Washington D.C., with Springfield Area Coalition Program Director Andrea Smith, to attend the CADCA Conference. She had the incredible opportunity to advocate in Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur’s office for stronger social media regulations to protect youth and for stricter enforcement against vaping businesses that target children.
Outstanding job to both of these students for standing out as leaders among their peers. A huge thank you to WTOL for coming out and showcasing the incredible work of our Springfield leaders in action. Their interview was televised March 4, at 5 p.m., on WTOLs Leaders in Action.
