The Ohio Turnpike projects a $29.8 million increase in toll revenue in 2021 compared to 2020 due to partial recovery from the effects of COVID-19 on traffic.
The Turnpike will be in sound financial condition in 2021 and in compliance with its debt covenants, said Marty Seekely, chief financial officer.
Passenger car vehicle miles traveled were up 21.9 percent and commercial vehicle miles traveled went up 18.5 percent for the first five months of 2021 compared to the first five months of 2020.
The commission finished 2020 with toll revenue of approximately $281.1 million, an 8.6 percent decrease compared to 2019, he noted.
Approximately 29.9 million passenger cars and 11.5 million commercial vehicles drove a total of 2.5 billion miles on the turnpike in 2020.
