Rain barrel workshop offered Aug. 6

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD) and Rain Garden Initiative is partnering with the Olander Park System in Sylvania to offer a Make and Take Rain Barrel Workshop from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 6, at Olander Park, open air shelter No. 2, 6930 West Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania.

Rain barrels are an easy and efficient way to manage storm water. Attendees will learn the purpose of rain barrels and be led through a step-by-step process to make their own from recycled food-grade 55-gallon drums donated by local companies.

The cost is $35 per barrel, and includes all necessary materials and tools. Space in the workshop is limited and pre-registration is required.
