LCCS receives $35,000 Ohio EPA grant to turn tires into surface for playground

Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) recently received a $35,000 Ohio EPA grant to turn recycled tires into a poured-in-place (PIP) rubber surface for the new LCCS playground that will soon be under construction.

The poured rubber will provide a smooth and fallsafe surface, one of the key elements that will make the new play space accessible to children and adults of all abilities.

Groundbreaking for the new playground is set for September 10. The project is expected to be completed in spring of 2022.

LCCS is working in partnership with Engage Toledo and Keep Toledo-Lucas County Beautiful to collect 1,800 tires through its regularly scheduled recycling events.
