Hudson Gallery, 5645 North Main Street, Sylvania, is presenting a solo exhibition of Toledo artist Kay Weprin’s newest oil pastel paintings.
Ms. Weprin has been a Toledo artist for decades with exhibitions dating from the mid-1980s.
Her style and obsession with color is recognized as all her own. Narratives forged of shape, color, texture, light and line imagined by Ms. Weprin’s own experience, instinct, emotion and sensation.
All of these elements brought together into one outpouring of creativity. “Color comes from within,” Ms. Weprin said.
“When I am painting, I turn to my feelings and inner intuition. The colors just dance off my brush onto the surface.”
Her paintings are layered with a mixture of color, bold and gestural strokes and collaged elements.
Stepping into Color by Ms. Weprin (shown above) is a celebration of color, abstraction and individual narrative.
The opening reception was Friday, September 3.
The exhibit will be on display through Saturday, September 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
This exhibit is free and open to the public.
