At the October 13 meeting, the Springfield Board of Education took action on a number of personnel matters. The school board:
•Issued changes of assignment for Holly Moore, Dorr 2 hours lunchroom monitor to temporary midday bus driver, effective through November; Danny Sprague from bus driver 5 hours to 6.25 hours, and Angela Vandromme from bus aide 4.75 hours to 5.50 hours.
•Approved casual labor contracts for athletics, student worker Jacob Mihalek; drama/theatre student tech employees Kaylin Copley, Joycelynn David, Colin Hickman, Jimmy Kleshinski, Ace Medina, Gianna Ray and Joseph Wilson; stadium cleanup Connie Elgin, Aundre Graham, Jennifer Leasure, Josh Mattis, Wade Opaczewski, Danielle Welch, Karen Willis and Sue Wyland.
The board also accepted the resignation of Gavin Morgan, athletic casual labor.
•Granted leaves of absence to Lauren Jacoby, 12 weeks through year’s end; Kelly Kerns, 12 weeks from December to March.
•Awarded personal service contract for 2021-22 to Dane Corser, Drama Club set construction, $400; Leah Schwan, box office and makeup/hair coordinator, $250; Rickey Thomas, JROTC head coach/exhibition/regulation drill team, and Anisa Warr, publicity coordinator, $150.
•Authorized pupil activity contracts for 2021-22 to William Dodson, SHS varsity wrestling assistant coach; Clifton Hodges, SMS seventh grade football cocoach; Vincent Huth, SHS swim volunteer coach, and Kevin Huang and Reese Shull, SHS cross country volunteer coaches.
•Accepted resignations from Andrea Bremer and DeShawn Cavanaugh, substitute teachers and Samantha Stein, SHS food service.
•Employed as substitute teachers Amber Ferguson, Mark Malinowski, Katie Munch, Sarah Rainey-Smithback and Lindsey Shaffer,
They also hired as substitute lunchroom/recess monitors Susan Wyland, Jessica Holmes and Theresa Roecker.
Other Business
In other business, the board:
•Renewed membership in the Ohio School Council at a cost of $3,617.
•Amended the nurse and clinical services agreement with ProMedica to reflect occupational therapists.
•Accepted donations from Cheri Casper, $120 in gift cards for support of SHS students, and L.C. Dunlap, $100 to be utilized for students at Dorr Elementary.
•Approved a request to attend a professional development day submitted by Ryan Grooms.
Approved positions for Evaluation Team Reports and Individual Education Programs.
The next school board meeting will be at 4 p.m., Monday, October 25, at the administration building, 6900 Hall Street, Holland. Meetings are open to the public and pandemic protocols are being followed.
