The continued generosity of a Secret Santa is making the holidays brighter for 300 area children and their families. Known to Springfield High
Known to Springfield High School students as “the Secret Santa Shoppe,” the event brings Santa’s workshop to Holland Free Methodist Church in Holland.
With gifts in hand, SHS cheerleaders went to work on December 9, wrapping more than 700 gifts for children in need.
The activity room at the church overflowed with ribbons, paper and tape as the squad busily endeavored to wrap presents in less than two hours. When the gifts were wrapped, the students placed them in large bags for distribution to each child.
Secret Santa, an anonymous area resident, has been serving area children for nearly 20 years.
Above right, wrapping gifts are Santa’s elves Arija Grana, left, and Carmyn Ramser-Perez. The girls said in unison that they “really enjoyed wrapping the gifts and definitely plan on doing it again next year.”
Above left, Nathan Kovacs and Kenna Bow turn in wrapped gifts for delivery to a youngster.
On the table, “all the gifts sat in a row. These gifts,” said Santa’s elves, “are the first thing to go [to deserving boys and girls].” Cheerleading coach Megan Cantu was pleased with the effort of the 20 Cheer Devils.
