Twp. kicks off 2022 with Springfield Splash

In 2020, Springfield Township Trustee Andy Glenn started what is becoming a tradition. On January 1, 2022 he and a group of residents took a quick dip in the pond at Community Homecoming Park. After all, it’s 80 degrees somewhere. Mr. Glenn came up with the idea after participating in Waterville’s Polar Plunge–an annual New Year’s Day jump into the Maumee River. The trustee decided it would be nice to start a similar event in the township and named it the Springfield Splash. “We hope to become more organized and larger next year,” he said, noting the pandemic has made it a challenge to grow the event.
