From the Desk of Principal Andy Evans Kudos to Holland Staff
You may have seen news stories or social media clips about staffing issues in all area schools. Holland Elementary and Springfield Local Schools are not excluded from these issues. As Holland’s principal, I want to use this week’s message to acknowledge our dedicated staff. Over the last month, Holland has seen its share of challenges through absences. However, the days went on and staff covered for each other by sacrificing planning times, lunches and responsibilities at home to ensure the best for our students. I could not be more proud of my teachers, aides, secretaries, monitors, nurse, custodians and bus drivers. If you feel the same, I invite you to send them a note or email to let them know.
What’s Mr. G Up to These Days?
Here’s a quick update, “One of my goals for the new year is to share more about what I do with students as a school counselor. This month we have been talking about the character trait of integrity. Recently, we have discussed the concepts of being truthful even when it’s hard, and doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. The students enjoyed hearing a poem by Shel Silverstein titled “The Voice.”
Big shout-out to all of our winners last week during our mid year PBIS assembly. Your children have worked incredibly hard in showing the Hawk Way and it’s always a blast to have a little fun. This coming week we continue our character focus by talking about choices when faced with difficult situations.”

Friday, February 18: last day of second trimester.
Monday, February 21: President’s Day–no school.
Tuesday, February 22: teacher work day–no classes.
Wednesday, February 23: teacher professional development–no classes.
Thursday, February 24: third trimester begins–all students report to class.
SDA Enrollment/Exit Survey Now Open for Third Trimester
The Springfield Digital Academy (SDA) enrollment/exit survey is now open for parent/guardian use. The SDA Google site for enrollment/exit will be open through Friday, February 11.
