Gaubert sworn in as newest Holland Village Council member

A new member of Holland Village Council was sworn into office at the January 18 meeting.

Nathan Gaubert was elected in November. He and his wife Meredith Mercurio, have two daughters, Marin and Corinne. They have lived in the village for four years and previously resided in Springfield Township since 2005.

“Since we moved into the village, we’ve liked all the benefits and resources here and I wanted to be a part of that, to be part of the direction for it,” he explained. “I just want to help out in any way that is needed.”

Mr. Gaubert previously served on the Whisperwood homeowners’ association board and the village planning commission.

A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mr. Gaubert earned a bachelor’s degree in business and chemistry from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in analytical chemistry from Ohio State University.

He is the manager of re search and new product development at Spartan Chemical in Maumee.

In other business, council approved the annual contract for the police department with NORIS, which allows officers to run criminal background checks, at a cost of $11,800.

They also authorized the payment of $681,447 in bills.

Council’s next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, at the village hall, 1245 Clarion Avenue. The meeting is open to the public.
