County commissioners approve personnel changes, appointments

Following an executive session, the Lucas County commissioners approved a number of appointments.

At the January 25 meeting, they named Michael Veh as the new executive director of the Workforce Development Board and appointed Khary Carson of Verde Logistics as a board member for a term expiring October 31, 2023.

Laura Bowerman was promoted to fill the full-time position of HR functional manager. She will be paid $37.02 per hour.

Burma Stewart was tapped to be deputy director of the department of planning and development at a salary of $44.23 per hour.

A number of appointments to the community corrections planning board also were approved. Serving terms through December 31 are Commissioner Gary Byers; Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz; Judges Linda Jennings and Ian English, county common pleas court; Judge Tim Kuhlman, Toledo Municipal Court; Judge Denise Cubbon, juvenile court; Chief George Kral, Toledo police; Chief Paul Long, Sylvania Township police; Sheriff Michael Navarre and Major John Sylvester, Lucas County sheriff’s office; Dennis Sullivan, Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio; Julia Bates, county prosecutor; Sean McNulty, Toledo Legal Aid Society; Scott Sylak, mental health and recovery services board, and Lori Mariucci, board of developmental disabilities.
