Holland Village Council backed a proposal at the March 1 meeting for the village’s liability insurance.
Councilman Nate Gaubert reviewed the proposal from Ohio Plan that includes a $167 annual cost increase.
Council approved the plan, at a cost of $32,946, for liability coverage through March 10, 2023. It also decreases the $25,000 deductible for cyber coverage to $10,000.
Council also authorized the $9,500 purchase of new weapons for the police department.
Councilman Scott Brown explained that officers tested four different guns from Precision Firearms to replace the department’s current weapons, and they prefer the H & K model.
Mr. Brown said the quote from Precision Firearms includes 20 H & K 9mm handguns and 15 holsters, while trading in 18 guns and 10 tasers that are at end of life.
In other business, council paid $9,190 in bills.
Council’s next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, at the village hall, 1245 Clarion Avenue. The meeting is open to the public.
