Springfield Schools to hold Summer Spark program

Springfield Local Schools is introducing a new program, Summer Spark, which is designed to provide students entering grades kindergarten through eight with engaging, experiential learning opportunities that challenges and entertains them. The program is offered free of charge to Springfield students.

Summer Spark will provide students with access to books, learning stations and outreach activities. To make it as engaging as possible, the district has partnered with several community organizations to provide students and families with a connection to experiences beyond the typical classroom.

Weekly themes will be incorporated into learning stations and outreach activities. Additionally, students will earn points for participating and reading books at home.

Summer Spark is unique in that it will be mobile with a district van bringing the learning to students.

The schedule will be: Monday–Crissey; Tuesday– Dorr; Wednesday–Holloway; Thursday–Holland, and Friday–Springfield Middle School.

The van will be parked outside each buildings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the designated days. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Summer Spark begins at Crissey on June 6 and runs through August 5 at SMS. The program will not be offered during the week of July 4 to 8.
