Penta treasurer to retire

The Penta Career Center board of education is in search of a new district treasurer.

Following a brief executive session at the October 12 meeting, the board authorized the search for a new district treasurer to replace Carrie Herringshaw, who is stepping down after three decades.

Superintendent Ed Ewers said Mrs. Herringshaw’s departure date is undecided and will depend upon the selected candidate’s availability. “Hulings and Associates is assisting with the search process,” he added.

Mrs. Herringshaw has served as district treasurer since 1990, and during her tenure has been part of a number of key changes, including the passage of levies which allowed the district to purchase the Buck Road property and subsequently construct a 522,000-square-foot career center on the site.

She has worked with a number of superintendents over the years and has received the Ohio Auditor of State’s perfect audit award on multiple occasions, most recently in April. In 2015, Mrs. Herringshaw was named Outstanding Treasurer/CFO of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials’ Foundation for School Business Management.
