Christ Child Society hosts Red Wagon luncheon

Last month, 110 members of the Christ Child Society and guests gathered at the Inverness Club for the annual Red Wagon luncheon and diaper drive benefit. The event, hosted by the Class of 2021 members, raised funds to support the services Christ Child Society offers to the community. Serving as co-chairs were Karen Schrock of Perrysburg and Kristine Kunkle of Sylvania.

The luncheon, which featured a raffle, silent auction and wine pull, raised more than $10,000, and the price of admission included a box of diapers. The layette program requires a minimum of 24,000 diapers and through the efforts of members, 19,282 diapers were collected in one day.

Dottie Pienta of Lambertville, Michigan, received the Red Wagon Award, given to an active member who has made significant contributions to the society chapter. A member of the 2018 class, Ms. Pienta is involved with several of the society’s community outreach programs. She currently chairs the spirituality committee and co-chairs the HUGS program.

JoAnn DeMars, also of Lambertville, was presented with the Barbara Sommer Memorial award. The award is given to a new member who has exemplified commitment to the mission of the Christ Child Society.
