The Toledo Christ Child Society has been awarded a Red Wagon grant from the National Christ Child Society.
The local chapter was notified of the award at the CCS national conference in September. The society received the recognition for its annual Theatre Vision program, which provides resources for disadvantaged students from four Partners in Learning schools to attend the highly acclaimed children’s theatre performance at the Valentine Theater in Toledo. Those schools are Gesu, Queen of Apostles, Rosary Cathedral and Hope Learning Academy.
This program enables teachers and CCS member volunteers to integrate the theatre experience into the classroom curriculum, prior to attending the live performance. The grant money awarded to the chapter will be used to provide each student with their own copy of the book that the live performance is based on–“The Ugly Duckling.”
