Arts Commission opens applications for visual art staff

community fireworks. The event is set forWednesday, June 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the downtown BG farmers market, corner of South Main and Clough streets.

Tents will be set up on the southeast corner and guests will be asked to line up along the east side of the market to place their order.

The event is donation based.

“Thanks to Belleville Brothers’ Meat for working with us yet once again on our pork-a-lean fund-raiser,” said Mary Hinkelman, chamber executive director. “It has become an annual tradition that people really look forward to, and they are supporting the community fireworks too.”

This year’s fireworks display will take place Sunday, The Arts Commission’s Young Artists At Work Program is now accepting applications for its visual arts staff for the 2023 season. Applicants are needed for parttime work, April through August 2023, to teach visual arts in a six-week summer youth employment program, running June 26 through August 4.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate talent working with youths, a specialization in the creation of public murals and expertise in small and fine artworks that would find success in the marketplace.
