OHP hosts open house, recruitment event

On December 14, the Ohio Highway Patrol post in Bowling Green held an open house and recruitment event. Visitors toured the post at 12891 Middleton Pike, met with troopers and dispatchers to learn more about careers with the highway patrol.

The event featured a helicopter from the patrol’s aviation unit, troopers from the patrol’s specialty units and two DUI confiscated vehicles–a Corvette and semi-truck. The semi, a licensed highway patrol vehicle, is used for special events such as Christmas deliveries to youngsters and their families in need.

Top, displaying the renovated semi are Santa Claus and the Grinch joined by Sandy Wiechman, Safe Communities coordinator. Above, several children meet with Santa to go over their wish list. At right, Abigail Schwochow puts handcuffs on the Grinch for “failure to display the Christmas spirit.”
