The purchase of an ice resurfacer was among a number of actions taken by the Metroparks Toledo commissioners to close out 2022.
At the December 14 meeting, the board approved the purchase of a Zamboni machine for $177,776. The unit will be used to maintain the 23,600-square-foot skating surface, which includes an 18,690-square-foot ice trail and additional elliptical shaped pond at Glass City park.
They also approved a purchase price increase to Duncan and Grove for play components of the prairie pollinator at the park. Brad Hooven, manager of self-performed construction, explained that since the original estimate in 2021, the price for freight shipping has risen significantly, necessitating an increase of $19,560 and bringing the total cost to $175,924.
In addition, the park board selected the Mannik & Smith Group of Maumee to provide professional construction administration and testing services for the Glass City Riverwalk at a cost not to exceed $2.8 million.
