Following an executive session at the January 11 meeting, the Penta Career Center board of education authorized adjustments to the superintendent’s contract.
The board extended the contract for Superintendent Edward Ewers from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2028. His annual salary beginning August 1 will be $155,000, and he will receive a one-time, performance-based stipend of $5,000 to be paid as soon as practical.
The superintendent’s mileage reimbursement will be consistent with other staff. All other terms and conditions of the contract effective January 1, 2020 remain in effect.
Mr. Ewers has served as superintendent since August 2020, at which time he was given a three-year contract with a starting salary of $145,000.
He joined Penta as assistant superintendent in January 2015. Prior to that, he served as superintendent at Edon Northwest Local Schools from 2011 to 2014; principal at Montpelier Exempted Village Schools, 2000 to 2011, and high school social studies teacher and coach, 1991 to 2000.
Mr. Ewers is Penta’s sixth superintendent since the career technical school opened in 1965.
The board also approved a one-time performance-based stipend of $5,000 to Treasurer Carrie Herringshaw to be paid as soon as practical.
