Holland Intermediate SCHOOL NEWS

From the Desk of Principal Andy Evans Thank you to all the families who turned out for the Character Breakfast on Friday. It is not easy arranging schedules and your support was amazing. Thank you to HPC for providing the goodies for this event.

Due to the snow day on Wednesday, we were not able to finish our gifted testing in fifth grade. As a result, we did testing on Tuesday. This required us to flip the specials schedule between the fourth and fifth grade. Any child who was absent will be pulled to make up the tests.

Our February character trait is acceptance. Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink on Friday, February 10, to show their support.

Important Message from Officer Warner

My name is Brett Warner and I am the director of safety services for Springfield Local Schools. Beginning immediately, any parent who is parking in the lot behind the football field must walk their child over to Holland Intermediate.

The same is true for picking up your student at the end of the day. You must walk over to Holland to pick up your child. I will be enforcing this beginning Monday, February 6. If you would like to drop off your child, then I would encourage you to do so in the car drop-off loop that goes through the Holland parking lot. Additionally, students should never be dropped off in the street or at the stop sign. This creates major safety concerns and it affects the arrival and dismissal process for the district. Thank you for your understanding.

VIP Day

The Holland Parents Club will be hosting separate VIP Days for fourth and fifth grade. Rather than Muffins for Moms or Donuts for Dad, we will be having Very Important Person day. More information will be coming out, but here are the details so far: Each student will invite one important person in their life for donuts and a drink, with fourth grade participating the morning of Friday, February 10, 8 to 8:30 a.m., Team Sonic; 8:45 to 9:15 a.m., Team MARVELous, and 9:30 to 10 a.m., Team Animal Crossing.

Fifth grade will be the morning of Friday, February 17, 8 to 8:30 a.m., Team Splatoon; 8:15 to 8:45 a.m., Team Legend; 9 to 9:30 a.m., Team Minecraft, and 9:15 to 9:45 a.m., Team Pac Peeps.

Every student will be able to attend, even if they don’t have a person coming in.

The VIP can be any important person in their life they choose to invite, but they can only invite one person to attend.

Attention Parents and Guardians of Holland Fifth Graders Many fifth grade Holland students have been eager for the moment they are able to sign up for sixth grade band and choir. The time is now. The 2023-24 sixth grade music placement forms were sent home the first week of February. Students are able to sign up for band, choir or both. All forms need to be returned to home room teachers, signed by parents/ guardians, by Wednesday, February 22.

A parent/guardian welcome email will be sent once the forms are received, confirming the sign up and providing further information regarding uniforms and instrument fittings. Mrs. Golick and Ms. Schwan can’t wait to meet the future sixth grade musicians of the band and choir.
