The Lucas County sheriff’s office is implementing its first Citizen Police Academy.
The goal of the academy is to provide transparency in how officers are trained and to develop lasting relationships within the community they serve.
Classes will run from 6 to 8 p.m. for 10 consecutive weeks, beginning Wednesday, March 1. Eight classes will take place at the Springfield Township Hall; two will be held in downtown Toledo.
There is no fee, but class size is limited.
Anyone interested in attending can download an application from the sheriff’s office webpage, lucascoun tysheriff.org, under the employment opportunities tab.
The deadline for completed applications is Friday, February 17.
