Springfield BOE acts on personnel matters

At the March 8 study session, the Springfield Board of Education acted on a number of personnel matters.

The board approved changes to certified employee Anna Leitner, moving her from intervention specialist at the middle school to the same position at the high school.

They issued one year classified contracts to Jodi Berndt, 4 hour SHS food service, and Pamela Penn, 4 hour SMS food service.

A change of assignment was granted to Amy Anderson, from 4 hour Crissey food service to Crissey recess monitor.

Leaves of absence were authorized for Lori Archer, SHS math teacher, through the end of school year; Sara Beamer, Holland Intermediate School, fifth grade science/social studies from April to June, and Kristin Stanfill SHS English through mid-April.

Personal service contracts were awarded to Lisa Holden, middle school solo and ensemble accompanist; Elijah Kuszmaul and Michah White, pit musicians, SHS drama, and Terrie Murphy, costumer, SHS drama.

The board also approved a pupil activity permit for Bradley Davis, SMS track coach.

Resignations were accepted for Kayla Taylor, substitute teacher, effective March 1, and Sheridan Parker, secretary to the principal at Holloway Elementary, effective April 2.

With an eye toward the summer months, the school board authorized stipends for Summer Spark program teachers Eric Bachar, Kelly Diesher, Liliana Esquival, Debra Hughes-Pettaway, Natalie Kalo, Jennifer Mercer, Theodore Middleton, Randy Norris, Carrie Pratt, Jamie Riley, Leah Schwan, Robin Sears, Shelby Simon and Christie Wilkins.

Several students were hired to serve as recess helpers. They are Morgan Amick, Veronica Florek, Paige Koback, Chloe Meyette and Madyson Yackee.

In addition, the school board awarded substitute contracts to Bryant Koback and Benjamin Sheppard, teachers; Lanova Cunningham, bus aide, and Pamela Penn, custodian.

Other Business

In other business, the school board:

•Authorized the expenditure of $22,850 to RingCentral Inc. for district telephone service.

 

•Approved the Medicaid School Program agreedupon procedures for fiscal years 2024 and 2025 with the accounting firm of Julian and Grube Inc. at an annual cost of $1,700.

“To participate in receiving Medicaid dollars for related services, we need to be audited yearly,” Treasurer Ryan Lockwood explained.

•Approved seven requests to attend professional development days.

The next board of education meeting will be at 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, at the administration building, 6900 Hall Street, and is open to the public.
