Several Springfield High School students are among 15 northwest Ohio students to be recognized at the 2023 Chuck Ealey Undefeated Spirit high school awards to be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 16, at Promedica World Headquarters in downtown Toledo.
Senior Elise Dodson was named a finalist in the essayist category of the awards program. Three other students–Morgan, Amick, Corrie Brown and Connor Gilley–will be recognized for completing an eight-month mentoring program to expand their personal growth and strengthen their servant leadership skills.
Also named as finalists in their respective categories are:
•Female athlete– Rakaisha Hal, Woodward; Liz Lathrop, Ottawa Hills; Natiah Nelson, Rogers; Macy Wensink, Toledo Christian, and Dekota Smith, Notre Dame.
•Male athlete–Ty’Waun Clark, Central Catholic; Simon Ese, Bowsher; Tommy Gallagher Jr., St. John’s Jesuit; Jackson Priestap, home schooled, and Jackson Wright, Fremont St. Joe.
•Essayists–Joseph Brewster, Otsego; Maya Stepnick, Toledo Early College; Shea Vaquera, Perrysburg, and Katherine Wilt, Start.
Each finalist will receive a scholarship to assist in their future educational goals.
In addition to the student recognitions, four adult influencers will be celebrated. Those individuals are retiring Bowsher High School basketball coaches Darrell Dorn and Joe Guerrero, and Claire’s Day founders Brad and Julie Rubini.
