Tea and Talk program at museum on April 20

The Wood County Museum will host Bette Lou Higgens, of Eden Valley Enterprises, as the guest speaker for its Tea and Talk gathering at 2 p.m., on Thursday, April 20.

Ms. Higgens’ talk is entitled “You Can’t Play Ball in a Skirt.”

The discussion will be about Alta Weiss, and how she put herself through medical school playing professional baseball on a men’s team in the early 1900s.

The museum has again partnered with the Summer Kitchen in Helena, for tea service. This month’s featured flavor will be “Mango and Friends.” The fruit tea is made with extra large cubes and flakes of pineapple and mango.

Reservations and payment are required by Friday, April 14. Call 419-352-0967 or visiting woodcountyhistory.org to reserve a ticket.

Admission is $25 for Wood County Historical Society members and $30 for nonmembers and those in need of special diet meals—gluten free or vegan.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

The cost includes tea, light refreshments by Carpe Diem Catering of Pemberville, and the program.
