BOE acts on personnel matters

At the April 12 study session, the Springfield Local Schools Board of Education took action on a number of personnel matters. They issued one-year contracts for the 2023-24 school year to Cassandra Glovier, SHS intervention specialist; Jenna Hartz, Crissey preschool intervention specialist; Delaney Smith, SMS math, and Sarah Vaughn, Holloway early childhood intervention specialist.

Personal service contracts were awarded to Ricardo Aguilar, pit musician, SHS Drama spring play; Joe Pirucki, Be the Link coordinator, and Amanda Saucedo, CPR training.

The school board also accepted resignations from Lori Archer, SHS math, effective March 27; Kailyn Bates, SMS math, August 11; Megan Cantu, SHS dance coach, April 1, and Pamela Penn, 4 hour SMS food service, March 20.

They also terminated Krys-Anne Rohm, 3.5 Hour Dorr food service, effective March 30.A stipend was granted to Brandy Bilek, Summer Spark program teacher for grades PreK to 5, and substitute contracts were approved for Teya Castillo, teacher, effective April 17, and Terra Brown, custodian, April 10.

Other Business

In other business, the school board:

•Authorized a change order for the SHS cafeteria project. The change order pertained to fire protection, $1,512 and electrical, $49,868.

 

•Approved enrollment in the 2024 Ohio SchoolComp workers compensation group rating program for $2,575.

•Received the award of distinction for a perfect audit from the Ohio auditor’s office.

Lori Brodie, northwest regional liaison for the auditor’s office, presented Mr. Lockwood with the award, which is given to entities that have a clean audit with no findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, uniform guidance findings or questioned costs.

•Approved an addendum to the prevention and intervention coordinator, providing for additional services due to the increased number of students sent for treatment of drug-related offenses.

•Authorized a third amendment to the school nurse and clinical services program with ProMedica Physicians Group, Inc. to include the Ohio Department of Education licensed school nurses and the addition of some clinical oversight.

•Issued commendations to the girls wrestling team and stomp and shake team.

Comprising the wrestling team are: Evelyn Blue, Bernadette Brown, Stella Christian, Analicia Gomez, Meadow Gomez (state qualifier), Lillian Iman, Ryleigh Mercer, Anessa Morgan and coaches Bill Dodson, Staci Hey, Erik Knapp, Anthony Scott and Nate White.

Members of the stomp and shake team are: Maame Agyemang- Prempeh, Aamiylah Anderson- Bitticks, Aaliysha Anderson-Bitticks, Evannah Arasa, Aanya Cordero, Aubri Dashner, Amya Fox, Armonii Grier, Quin’tia Henderson, Kennedy Lofton, Daija Miller, Taccarra Nickson, Maame Prempeh, Aiyana Scott, Sydni Shinaul, Casjah Shy, Sa’Myra Williams, Karis Woodward, Koryn Woodward, and co-advisors Bonita Adams and Emem Emah.

•Approved four requests to attend professional development days.

•Received an update on activities at the high school from Principal Robb Brown.

The next board of education meeting will be at 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, in the board meeting room at the administration building, 6900 Hall Street, and is open to the public.
