Toledo Public Library receives national recognition

State Senators Theresa Gavarone and Paula Hicks-Hudson presented a resolution recognizing the Toledo Lucas County Public Library for earning the National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

“Toledoans and Lucas County residents all know their library system is the best of the best, and this award emphasizes that fact,” Rep. Gavarone said. “This honor demonstrates the positive presence the Toledo Lucas County Public Library has had in our community for generations.”

The medal is awarded to facilities that make significant contributions to their communities. It is the highest honor a library system or museum in the United States can receive.

The library was one of four to earn the medal this year, joining a group of only 182 other institutions around the country in the award’s history.
