The Lucas County Canine Care & Control (LC4) is hosting a Thanksgiving sleepover event for adoptable dogs in the shelter’s care.
Potential foster individuals and families are asked to sign up using the Sign Up Genius link at lucascounty dogs.com. Staff will select dogs for each person or family to meet, based on questions asked during the sign-up process. The foster program is available for Lucas and Wood County residents.
Foster pick up will be available from Monday, November 20 to Wednesday, November 22. Drop off will take place on Sunday, November 26. If a family chooses to adopt their foster dog, the fees will be waived. A dog license must be purchased at the time of adoption.
“Fostering is a fantastic way for the dogs to get a break from shelter life while simultaneously allowing potential adoptive families and LC4 staff to learn more about the dogs in a home setting,” said Kelly Sears, director of LC4. “We are so thankful to our foster families who open their hearts and homes to a dog in need.”
Dogs fostered and adopted from the organization will join their new families already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and current on flea, tick and heartworm preventions. Every dog on a sleepover will go home with a container of food, a leash and collar and a goodie bag filled with a blanket, treats and toys.
More than 87 dogs and puppies are searching for new homes at the LC4 care center, 410 South Erie Street, with more dogs available for adoption each day.
