The Ohio Highway Patrol joined forces with other members of the six-State Trooper Project to focus on speed, safety belt and OVI enforcement on I-75.
During the project, 504 people in Ohio were issued citations including 454 for speed and 44 for safety belt violations. Additionally, six people were cited for OVI.
The I-75 high-visibility enforcement effort included the Kentucky and Michigan state police departments. The initiative began February 16 and continued through February 18.
Collectively, troopers from Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio cited 846 during the multi-state enforcement effort, including 741 drivers for speed-related violations and 93 for safety belt infractions. An additional 12 were cited with OVI.
The multi-state law enforcement partnership is aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and intelligence sharing. State police agencies in Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia did not participate in this effort, since the focus area was I-75.
