Responsible gun ownership topic of April 15 LWV meeting

The League of Women Voters of Lucas County will discuss responsible gun ownership at the organization’s Monday, April 15 meeting. Held at the Sylvania branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 6749 Monroe Street, Sylvania, the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

On June 13, 2022 Ohio enacted Senate Bill 215 which authorized the ability to carry a concealed weapon without a permit from the state.

In the June 2022 Ohio Attorney General publication “Ohio’s Concealed Carry Laws and License Application, Attorney General Dave Yost, wrote, “Even though permit-less carry is now legal, however, I urge any Ohioan seeking to carry concealed to take the steps necessary to get an official concealed- carry license. The cost is low, the class runs only eight hours and the training in safe gun handling is invaluable.”

Corey Russell, a law enforcement officer and a recognized firearms safety instructor, will speak on the characteristics associated with being a responsible gun owner, what Ohio law requires, and how Ohio law compares with that of Michigan.

The presentation is part of the league’s general membership meeting.
