The MultiFaith Council of Northwest Ohio will host its annual banquet at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 at the Islamic Society of Northwest Ohio, 850 South McCord Road, Holland.
The theme of the event is “Nonviolence in Action.” Tickets are $65 and can be purchased online at bit.ly/MFC24AB.
The banquet will include storytelling by two local women working on nonviolent activities to improve the community. Dr. Edna Jean will share her recent activities in support of Haitian refugees and Aviance Hill will discuss her response to the loss of her son and how she advocates with other parents of murdered children. The keynote address will be Teny Gross, founder and executive director of the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago.
Dinner is sponsored in part by the Grape Leaf Diner catering. There will be space for Muslim guests who observe evening prayers. Community leaders are encouraged to attend to learn more about Mr. Gross and his work.
