Hospice of Northwest Ohio will host its second event in the 2024 Dr. Sharon Erel lecture series on Thursday, May 9.
The program will feature Jennifer O’Brien, MSOD, author of “The Hospice Doctor’s Widow.”
The free lecture will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m., at the McMaster Center in the Toledo Lucas County Main Library. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.
Continuing education credits will be offered for nurses and social workers/ counselors. Community members and those who are not seeking continuing education also are invited to attend. The in-depth exploration of family caregiving offers each participant facts, insights, guidance and lived experience.
O’Brien is a consultant and leader in healthcare for 35 years and family caregiver to her late mother, father and husband, a hospice and palliative medicine physician. Her combination of story and data can help family and professional caregivers understand each other’s perspective and encourage having quality conversations.
She also will discuss having effective end-of-life conversations and will offer resources that will be valuable to both caregiving roles. To register, send an email to Mary Davis at mdavis @hospicenwo.org by Monday, May 6.
