Annual Springfield Splash tests 36 hearty souls

Evidently, the allure of frigid air and water temperatures was too inviting to resist for a dedicated group of about 36 area residents. That’s why on 1/1 at 1 p.m., they “took the plunge” during the annual Springfield Splash hosted again this year at Community Homecoming Park. Springfield Township Trustees Andy Glenn and Tom Anderson, along with Township Finance Officer Brenna Koback, led the revelers whose chilly laps were witnessed by family and friends (all under the watchful eyes of members of the Springfield Township Fire Department). In total, more than 50 friends shivered on the shore before and after the event which, according to Andy Glenn, “…has taken place since 2020.”

The event’s growing popularity is motivating organizers to consider potential sponsorships and scholarship opportunities for next year’s Springfield Splash.
