Community invited to National Day of Prayer event on Thursday, May 1

The Holland community is invited to come together in faith and unity for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1, at Strawberry Acres Lodge, 950 South McCord Road, Holland. Beginning at 7 p.m., it will feature a time of prayer, worship and reflection.

This gathering offers a moment for individuals, families and community leaders to unite in prayer for the nation. The program will include scripture-based reflection, worship music and focused prayers for key areas of influence in society, including: 

•Government–Bob Bethel, Holland Administrator

•Media–Proclaim FM Radio

•Family–Bonita Adams, Springfield High School teacher, and Connie White, district social worker

•Education–Tayler Redinger, Springfield Local Schools

•Church–Harold Schutte, the Dwelling Place

•Business–Mike Lagenderfer, owner of Countertop Shop

•Military–Steve Miller 

The event will be hosted by Keith Simpson of Holland Free Methodist Church, with music provided by Springfield High School choir and worship led by Tayler Redinger.

The Boy Scouts also will take part in the ceremony, which will conclude with “God Bless America” and a final prayer of unity.

Local churches and community organizations are encouraged to spread the word. The event is free and open to all.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman, with the first Thursday of May designated as a day for unified prayer across the country.
