State investing more than $6.3 million for roadwork improvement projects

As part of its ongoing effort to promote economic growth and improve communities, the Ohio Department of Development reports the release of more than $6.3 million through the Roadwork Development Grant (629) program.

Six communities will benefit from the grants, which provide funding to local jurisdictions with an economic development project by assisting with eligible public roadwork improvements.

Locally, the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority will receive $1,182,760 in support of the Farnsworth Business Park project. The roadwork will consist of the construction of approximately 1,740 linear feet of roadway, beginning at Waterville Neapolis Road and continuing south. The project will allow for the expansion of Farnsworth Industrial Park, currently zoned for light industrial use and will improve accessibility and infrastructure for additional job-ready sites.

Grants are awarded for public roadwork improvements that support the expansion or attraction of businesses. Eligible costs include widening, paving, road construction and reconstruction, and right-of-way infrastructure improvements such as sewer or utility lines.
