This month, the Holland-Springfield-Spencer Historical Society Museum will be open from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., on Saturday, August 16, and Thursdays, August 21 and 28.
With students heading back to school, the museum will feature Springfield Schools memorabilia at its exhibit area to the right of the main entry.
Area residents are invited to visit the museum, view the items on display and share memories of their time at Springfield Schools.
Located at 7154 Front Street, Holland, the museum is free and open to the public on three Thursdays each month and on the third Saturday of the month through November. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Several other special events are being planned for the last quarter of 2025.
“On Saturday, October 18, we will have on exhibit items from the Springfield Township Fire Department in the museum along with information on the department’s history,” said Jane Welch, museum director.
Held in conjunction with the annual fire prevention month, the event will feature vintage fire trucks.
October activities continue on Friday, October 31 when the museum opens for Halloween trick or treat from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Is the museum haunted? Stop by on Halloween and see if you can spot any ghosts from the past,” the director said.
The last event of the season, a Christmas open house, will take place Saturday, December 6, with a time yet to be determined.
The museum will be decorated for the holidays and refreshments will be served. Following the open house, the museum will close for the winter.
The director expressed appreciation to those who support the museum.
“These events are made possible by museum members, the Village of Holland and Springfield Township.”
