ProMedica plans upcoming events

ProMedica will offer the following community events in August and September.

•Thursday, August 28– The stroke support group will host a meeting about caring for the caregiver and supporting the stroke survivor. Meetings are held at ProMedica Flower Hospital Conference Center, 5200 Harroun Road, Sylvania, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Stroke survivors, caregivers and supporters are all encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

•Wednesday, September 3–The multiple sclerosis (MS) support group is supported by the National MS Society. Meetings will take place at UToledo-ProMedica Neurosciences Center, 2130 West Central Avenue, Toledo, beginning at 6 p.m.

The group is also open to friends and family. No registration is required. A virtual option is available. Call 419291-2059 for more information.

•Monday, September 8– The weight loss surgery support group is designed for patients who have undergone weight loss surgery or for community members seeking more information about this procedure. The group meets on the first Monday of every month at ProMedica Health and Wellness Center, Education Conference Rooms 1 and 2, 5700 Monroe Street, Sylvania, beginning at 6 p.m.

The meeting was moved to the second Monday of the month due to Labor Day.

No registration is required.

•Sunday, September 14– Be Fast 5K run and 1 mile walk at Promenade Park, 400 Water Street, Toledo.

The event works to raise awareness of stroke and stroke risk factors while raising money for the Stroke Patient Assistance Fund, which provides financial coverage for patients with limited financial means as a result of their stroke.

The event will feature a free community resource fair that is open to the public (race participation not required) where there will be health screenings, door prizes, music, face painting, activities for the children and more.

•Friday, September 26– ProMedica Stroke Network’s Annual Celebration of Life for regional brain aneurysm survivors will be held at ProMedica Steam Plant, 100 Madison Avenue, Toledo, beginning at 5 p.m. The event includes guest speakers, survivor testimonies, vendors, dinner and more.
