Party in the Park closes season with ‘Thank You Toledo’ celebration

Party in the Park is ending its summer season with a spectacular “Thank You Toledo” event on Friday, August 29, at Promenade Park—and this one promises to be the most unforgettable night yet.

The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with the high-energy Ashley Martin Band, a powerhouse act worthy of headliner status in its own right. But the true spectacle begins at 7:30 p.m., when the skies above downtown Toledo come alive: A skydiver carrying the American flag will descend into Promenade Park (weather permitting) while local favorite Jake Pilewski performs a stirring rendition of the National Anthem.

Following this tribute, Bruce Rumpf of the Downtown Toledo Improvement District (DTID) will present two newly created community awards: The Pete Gerken Community Impact Award, honoring long-term leadership, service and social-economic impact across Northwest Ohio.

The Paul Toth Downtown Catalyst Award, celebrating transformational leadership in community development and downtown revitalization.

Party in the Park organizers also will share a special announcement to the Toledo community, underscoring the deep appreciation for the city’s ongoing support.

At 8 p.m., the night shifts into overdrive with the arrival of a nationally recognized Garth Brooks tribute band, bringing hit after hit and keeping the crowd on its feet until the finale.

Then, around 10 p.m. (weather permitting), the season comes to a dazzling close with a musically choreographed drone show over downtown Toledo—a one-of-a-kind “thank you” to the city that has embraced Party in the Park with such energy and pride.

“This finale is our way of saying thank you, Toledo,” said Cheryl Hardy, Party in the Park organizer. “From the skydiving flag to the drone show, this night is designed to celebrate our community, our leaders and the people who make downtown Toledo so special— the community.”

Admission is free, and families are encouraged to arrive early to grab a spot for this evening of music, spectacle and community celebration.
