Beginning Friday, September 5, with the Arts in Motion Gala, and culminating in a day full of free activities for kids and families at a community open house on September 6, from 1 to 5 p.m., the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) will celebrate the grand opening of the Toledo Center for Live Arts, newly located at 4747 Heatherdowns Boulevard, adjacent to the Stranahan Theatre.
The facility is home to TAPA’s members—the Toledo Symphony, Toledo Ballet, Toledo Jazz Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras and Toledo Symphony School of Music.
Featuring five dance studios, two large music rehearsal/ performance studios, and 11 small music instruction rooms, the center provides space for individual and group instruction, rehearsals and small performances. It also brings together all of TAPA’s artists, educators, students and administrators under one roof for the first time, fostering the sense of collaboration that is a hallmark of the organization’s service to the region. Large common spaces also provide a place for students and families to gather before and after classes, along with a lounge/ study area reserved just for students.
