Wrapping-up 2021

We’re told that this is the season for “wrapping” and there is just a little over a week left until winter break begins and we begin 2022. We encourage all families to remind your students to check lost and found and their lockers for any sweatshirts and coats they have at school. There is quite a collection piling up.

Holland Elementary School embraces the practice of teaching all students to build each other up rather than tease or make another feel badly for any reason. This is a practice that remains important for all as we mature.

Thank you to everyone for supporting our efforts to model positive communication and behaviors (and stress the dangers of judging, teasing, joking, etc.)

Important Dates

Monday, December 20: winter break begins.

Monday, January 3: school resumes.

SHS DEVILSasOne Toy Drive

Holland Hawk families are invited to assist with the DEVILSasOne seventh annual ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital Toy Drive, and we want to make this year the best year ever.

The hospital is asking for a very specific list of toys that includes classic board games, Barbies and LEGO sets that are $10 or under, but we also are collecting monetary donations as we did this past year. For every $50 offered, donors names will be entered into a raffle to win amazing prizes that include a $400 cookware set from Calphalon, a round of golf for four at Highland Meadows Golf Club, a month of group training at Renegade Fitness, gift cards to Social Rind Co., CYCLE-BAR, Kengo Sushi and Yakitori and more. This year brings new challenges, but we are sure we can meet our goal with support throughout the district. More information can be found at springfieldtoydrive.com. Deadline is Tuesday, December 14.

Springfield Schools Dress Code

The elementary dress code can be found in the student handbook on page five. There is a link on the Holland webpage. Please note: outerwear, general guidelines:

•Outerwear such as coats and jackets worn to and from school and for recess is appropriate.

•Coats, jackets, hats, scarves, head coverings and gloves may NOT be worn during the school day unless permitted by the principal.

Students are expected to comply with all rules including outerwear.

Join our Springfield Team

Springfield has many full and part-time positions open and available–food service, transportation, custodial/maintenance substitute teachers and more. If you’re interested in any of these positions, you can apply online. Visit springfield-schools.org and click on employment. If you are considering becoming a substitute teacher, this training information is for you.

Traffic Cones

The traffic cones that help to outline the current traffic pattern will be going away once we get closer to the snow season. The cones will be removed to allow for snow plowing. Please continue to adhere to the established practices.

Elementary Reconfiguration

As you know, Holland will be reconfigured into a 4/5 building for the 2022-23 school year. The district has already released a map to show where your student will be attending elementary school next year. Go to springfield-schools.org/reconfiguration to get the most up-to-date information on the reconfiguration.
