This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme was Celebrate Life and Live Drug Free. This theme was created by three seventh grade students in New York, and is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live drug free.

This week, and every week, we remind students that by making healthy choices, like staying drug free, they are much more likely to achieve their goals. By staying drug free, it means investing in their current and future health, and their community’s future. Our partnership with the Springfield Area Prevention Coalition helps us communicate that our community loves our students. Together, with district staff, we work to support and encourage children of all ages to make decisions that will foster happy, healthy, fun and wonderful lives. Together, we all motivate students to reflect on our messages and commit to themselves, their friends, and the adults in their lives that they will continue to make healthy choices to ensure a brighter future.

Holloway students celebrated daily with activities like wearing pajamas, saying peace out to drugs, wearing our school colors to show we are committed to being drug free and by also saying “Boo to Drugs.”

As we wrapped-up the week, students recommitted to being drug free now and in the future.
