They slither and fly and crawl and hop. Love them or fear them, now is a chance to meet some of nature’s most misunderstood creepy creatures.
Nature’s Nursery and BluSky Restoration invite area residents to learn about and interact with a variety of animals that don’t always get the love they deserve— bats, toads, snakes and more. While often associated with the spookiness of Halloween and fall, these animals are not nearly as scary as the season portrays them to be.
The Critter Crawl will take place at BluSky Restoration, 1300 Michigan Street, Waterville, on Thursday, October 23, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This familyfriendly event aims to educate and entertain while shedding light on the important roles these animals play in our ecosystems. The wildlife experts from Nature’s Nursery will be on hand to introduce these creatures, bust some myths and give attendees a chance to meet them up close.
Event Highlights:
•Live Animal Encounters: Get face-to-face with bats, snakes, toads, an owl and other so-called “creepy” critters, and learn why they’re crucial to the environment.
•Interactive Learning Sessions: Wildlife experts will provide informative talks, sharing fun facts and clearing up common misconceptions.
•Crafts: The team from BluSky restoration will have crafts and hands-on fun.
•Batman: Batman and the Batmobile will be available for a meet and greet and photo ops.
“We hope this event will help people see these animals in a new light,” said Allison Aey, Nature’s Nursery executive director. “Far from being scary, these critters are essential to keeping our environment healthy. They deserve our respect, and we want to help people understand that.”
The Critter Crawl will allow guests to work their way through the halls and rooms of the BluSky Restoration Facility, meeting animals along the way and learning fun critter facts. The crawl is perfect for families, animal lovers and anyone curious about the natural world. Costumes are welcomed.
Admission: There is no cost to attend, but guests are encouraged to bring a donation for Nature’s Nursery including items such as: paper towels, cleaning supplies, wood chip animal bedding, piddle pads and grocery store gift cards.
