TLCLWV to host a meet and greet on May 20

The Toledo-Lucas County League of Women Voters has planned an all county meet and greet featuring commissioners, mayors and trustees. The event is open to the public and will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, May 20, at Ernest Brew Works, 3142 Central Avenue.

The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing (REPL) offers the following information about home inspections for Ohio homebuyers and sellers. Ohio established its Home Inspector Program in 2019, at which time it became a requirement for home inspectors to be licensed with the state of Ohio.

Toledo Heart Walk to be held May 19

On Sunday, May 19, join the American Heart Association at Promenade Park for the Toledo Heart Walk. The event will begin with a health expo and interactive warm-ups at 7:30 a.m. The walk kicks-off at 9 a.m. and will move through the Glass City Metropark. The path of the walk is pictured below.

Intersection Glass Program call for proposals now open

The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo’s Momentum Program, in partnership with NSG Pilkington, has now opened the Call for Proposals for the 2025 Momentum Intersection Glass Program. The Arts Commission invites individuals to reimagine the potential of Pilkington float glass toward the creation of projects funded through Momentum Intersection, a collaboration of industry, design and art.

Opera Outdoors returns to Wildwood Metropark

Opera Outdoors returns to Wildwood Preserve Metropark with a performance on Wednesday, May 22, at 6 p.m., on the front lawn at the Manor House. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be moved inside the Manor House.

Highway patrol investigates crash at Dorr Street, I-475

The Toledo Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle, rollover injury crash that occurred Tuesday at noon in Springfield Township, at the Dorr Street and I-475 southbound exit ramp. According to the highway patrol, a semi-truck, operated by Leo Preston, was traveling west on Dorr Street, when his truck overturned in the roadway. The commercial load spilled an oil substance on the road, which was closed for an extended period of time for cleanup.

Hosta, Daylily Society plant sale May 18

The Black Swamp Hosta and Daylily Society will hold its 27th annual perennial plant sale on Saturday, May 18, in the parking lot of Walt Churchill’s Market in Perrysburg. The sale will begin at 8 a.m. and run until sold out, which usually occurs about noon. It will be held rain or shine.

States’ attorney generals settle with wireless giants

On May 9, Attorney General Dave Yost said states’ attorneys general reached a $10.25 million settlement with large wireless companies. The settlements, involving the largest wireless carriers in the United States, resolve the 50 attorneys general investigations into deceptive and misleading advertising practices.
