Springfield Middle School News

Body
On Friday, February 10, more than 40 eighth grade students from team ACES came together to spread love and cheer to the residents of Otterbein Sunset Village. Under the direction of Mrs. Poponak, Mrs. Brazzil and Miss Jaco, students gathered to create handmade Valentine’s that they delivered in time for the seniors to enjoy for the holiday. Creativity exuded from these students as they wrote letters of love and hope, drew pictures and shared stories and hand-written poems for the residents. When asked what she felt about the project, eighth grader, Alexa Bellman, stated, “When I was making these cards, I was glad that I could make somebody’s Valentine’s Day a little better. I loved the thought of someone smiling just from reading my card.” Another eighth grader, Fahed Yehya, also added, “It’s the little change that makes the world the smallest amount better. Like the famous Gandhi once said, ‘Be the change that you wish to see in the world.’” The teachers leading this project were very happy with the outcome and hope to make it an annual event at Springfield Middle School.
